Introducing the new Chair of The Healing Trust
At The Healing Trust's AGM, we said goodbye and a heartfelt 'thank you' to Helen Beck as she stepped down from the role of Chair. Helen, a highly respected Fellow of The Healing Trust, steered the Trust through two critical periods in our history. We wish her a very well-deserved and happy retirement, while welcoming her continued advice and input as a Fellow.
The Healing Trust members voted unanimously for Gillian Clark, pictured above, to become the new Chair. It was widely agreed that that she has the ideal skill set to take the Trust forward and help it to thrive.
Gill has been a member of the NFSH Healing Trust since 1998. She has been a regional Chair and Council Representative for Region 7 (East Anglia). She has also acted as a Panel Coordinator, a Support Group Leader and was a tutor for many years. She has been on the Board of Trustees since 2016.
Gill is a qualified counsellor and currently works in the Bereavement Service of a large hospice in East London. She is known for her good communication skills and has experience of mentoring, supervising and coaching both staff and volunteers.
Prior to training as a counsellor, Gill had a long career in the arts and cultural sector: working for small charities, as a freelance consultant and as a senior manager in local government. She has served as a trustee and Board member for various charities including acting as Chair and as a Company Secretary. She has experience and an excellent understanding of governance issues, finance, and staff and resource management.
Says Gillian, "Over the last two years, the Healing Trust Board of Trustees has been working to relocate the office, achieve financial stability for the organisation, revise the training, and develop the new website. I look forward to working with the trustees and staff to consolidate these developments and to look ahead to the future. I hope that we can develop a vision for the Healing Trust where it is a lively organisation with a growing membership that upholds the highest standards as a healing organisation."
Gillian will be supported in her role by Region 1 Committee member Carol Holly, who joined the Board of Trustees in 2017. Carol steps into Gill's previous role of Vice Chair, bringing some excellent IT and administration experience with her.
